Welcome!

Project summary:

The College of Agriculture and Home Economics is helping to create a university environment that fosters maximum achievement and retention of Hispanic agricultural students. Objectives include:
• Develop materials to increase relevance of agricultural academic programs for Hispanics at Hispanic Serving Institutions (HSIs).

• Develop faculty workshops to increase skills in relating to, advising, and helping to retain first-generation and culturally identified Hispanic students.

• Develop undergraduate retention programs and courses to increase cultural awareness of the growing Hispanic population.

• Share resources for faculty and students nationally via the latest interactive instructional delivery systems.

The intended impact of the program is to increase awareness of the multicultural concerns that Hispanic students face within a university and how faculty within the nine academic departments in the college can gain a deeper understanding of the concerns. Ultimately the project will enhance the educational equity for Hispanic students, increase institutional capacity by responding to new opportunities to serve Hispanic populations and enable Hispanic Serving Institutions to attract and retain underrepresented students.
